Hi All

Strange one... I've recently upgraded my PC and donated the older kit to my Son. I removed the Asus Motherboard, i7 9700K and Aorus 360mm AIO from the case and put it aside ready to go in the Son's new case. I never physically removed the AIO from the CPU, taking care not to pull the pipes etc. Now that everything is in his case, the 9700K is now running a lot hotter than before? When it was in my case, idle was 30-32c and load 55-65c tops. Now it idles at 50c and load 85-88c!!!? I removed the pump, cleaned of the thermal paste and re-applied, but still runs at these higher temps? Any tips on what else it could be etc?

Cases are:
Mine - Lian-Li 001 Dynamic XL
Son's - Lian-Li 001 Dynamic

Thanks.

Yeah, all case/AIO fans spinning. Bottom 3 and side 3 fans are intake, top AIO is exhaust. Case is in his room... From cold start, as soon as Win11 is booted to desktop, CPU is idle at 50c?

Regarding location, i was thinking maybe it moved from wooden floor to carpet and maybe that meant bottom intakes were blocked. Prolly not that tho if its hot so fast.

More voltage in the cpu than before would be my next guess.
