Wasn't sure what section would be most relevant so I bunged this in GH.

I recently (last week) received a laptop that I ordered in early March from a competitor :/ it has an i7 2.7GHz and a 650m. I put my own SSD in. It is super fast.

However in games my cpu gets alarmingly hot. The highest has been 99c for one of the cores and the overall cpu 'package'. The other cores are at 90c. The gpu is at 85c. When I run prime I.e. heat only from the cpu, I hit 90c for the cpu package.

Are these temps considered unrealistic for long time gaming? What would you do?

laptop /mobile cpus tend to have a higher thermal fresh-hold when compared to desktop counter parts, looking an Intel's page for mobile cpus the max recommended temps are around 105c.

Gaming on a laptop in my opinion will always result in higher temps!

I had the same issue with my laptop, I never used it for gaming, but even whist streaming a movie it would hit the low 90's. it got that bad the oem sticker on the base has got a black burn mark , and even one of the pipes coming of the heatsink, has gone black. I changed the tim, and the temps dropped by 15 degrees. You can buy a mini extractor fan, off Fleabay, that clips onto the fan vents and then plugs into usb. it pulls the hot air right out, and for £4 it works like a dream.
