I recently got an Zalman Aero flower cooler and an Akasa fan controller. When i turn the fan onto MAX its only goes at 2640Rpm from a lowest speed of 1500Rpm. And wether it is on max rpm or lowest there seems to be no difference in temperature reading on AI Booster. Is using a software program the most efficient way of measuring hardware temperature?. I got some Probes i can stick on various things within the pc but if i put my finger above the heatplate on the zalman it is COLD were the pc says its at 34 degrees C.

Mine is at 2557 on max, so that reading is correct.

From the figure of 34C, I take it that this is an idle temp, in which case I doubt that what ever the fan is set to, the temps would vary that much (idle can only be room temp + about 5 - 8C). It is really at load that you would see the difference. Do a load test with it on the two settings and report back.

i am using Nvidia Ntune to check the temps and i used a program called PRIME 95 to stress test it and it was on for a while and the temp didnt go above 40. i am prob doing something wrong.

Well not going above 40 is great if that is fully loaded (you do have a single core CPU I'm guessing - otherwise you need to run two windows of Prime95). My X2 3800 idles at 31C and fully loaded ranges from 37 - 41C depending on room temp (although this is overclocked).

You may want to try other stress testing programs as well. SuperPi is good, also S&M and I'm sure other people will post up others.
