Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 @ 2.40GHz
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
Western Digital 250GB IDE
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
- Cooling -
Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B Heatpipe CPU Cooler
Arctic Silver 5

I'm thinking of overclocking will it be safe running at these temps?

It is best to stop at the speeds where your CPU are around 60degrees full load, eg running Orthos.

You should easily get around 3,3Ghz.

Shouldn't the temps be lower than that considering what i'm running
Or would the GFX card be putting it down

Depends on your ambient is, those temps are way high if your room is not like an oven. Run TAT as well to cross reference your core, if they are true you will be lucky to get 3.3, if even close stable. Check the seating of your hsf see if your as has spread across the chip and there are no blind spots, make sure you have the right airflow in your case, a pic would be handy along with your fan config and case psec.

Download Intel TAT or Core Temp, Speed Fan reads Mobo sensor IIRC.

47c idle on Speedfan could very well be about 60c on Core Temp/TAT.

I cant seem to use TAT but I can use Core Temp. At 3.3Ghz, on a full load, both cores are at the 60C limit after an hours Cancer crunching...

For me Speed fan alway's gets my cpu and graphic card mixed up :D I almost died when i saw cpu at 79C.
Tat say's i get
@ 3.22Ghz
36C idle
50 Load
Cooler is a TT120

Not all the time, but when I have my heater on in my room (it gets ruddy cold in winter!) I can see 65C under full load. Should I worry about this? E6600/AF7 pro

My [email protected] / AF7 pro runs at 41c Idle and 55c full load with core temp in quite a warm room.
All my fans are full speed though :)
