I wasn't sure whether to put this in here or in the Overclocking and Cooling section, as my CPU isnt overclocked but it is a cooling issue. Anyway here goes:
I have an AMD Athlon X2 4400+ (2.3ghz) with the stock AMD heatsink (no special paste, only the little grey pad of compound that comes on the bottom of the heatsink). The fan runs at 3000rpm (which is loud even in an nzxt HUSH) yet i get temps of 45 degrees in idle and playing a game can go 55+ according to ASUS PC Probe, is this normal? Would a bit of thermal compund reduce these temperatures? Or should I invest in a new heatsink?
