hi all just a quick question my cpu temps seem a bit high for a q6600 @ 60 degrees idle up to 75-80 under load, its not overclocked at all got an aero 7 aftermarket fan/heatsink on there too, have reseated and reapplied thermal paste b4, no difference , ive even hoovered the heatsink to get rid of any dust,
so my question is would i be best off with a new tower something like the antec 1200, as people are saying the get excellent temps with that case, or would i be better off with another fan/heatsink, does the 1200 really make a big difference, any input would be appreciated.

they seem very high, I've got a shuttle with a q6600 overclocked @ 3ghz yet only getting 58 degrees full load. in a full size case you shouldn't be getting them temps, I'd have suggested reseating but you said you tried that, are you sure the cpu fan is running at full speed and not 10% or something silly

Those temps sound way out. My q6600 idles at 30 degrees @ 2.8ghz and goes up to 44 load (ASUS probe temperatures) core temp says 36 idle 55 load. Im using an antec 1200 but even any good ventilated case should give reasonable temperatures

Mine idles @ 38c and goes upto 60c @ full load, I've overclocked it abit with 1.275v.

Have you checked you haven't changed the CPU voltage settings by accident? Because it seems way too high.

Are you reading the temps from within the BIOS or software?
