Hi all,

Upgraded to a Ryzen 5 4th gen and gave my son my 6600k but it really does show its age in BFV and other CPU intensive games.

I've just bought him a B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi and I'm looking for a budget upgrade to a 6600k. I was looking at the 3600, would that be a good upgrade? If not what 3rd gen would you suggest? I'm avoiding the 3700x since it's the same price as the 5600x

The problem is getting a 5600x so if your pre paired to wait then all good. The 3600 and 3700x are still good option The later with 2 extra cores.

It's only for my young lad so a 4th gen Ryzen isn't priority right away.

My main concern is upgrading the 6600k to a Ryzen 3600 for example and seeing no benefit. The motherboard being a 550 is future proofing him a bit though so in a few years I'll probably end up getting him a 5600x.

You should get a 20% performance boost depending on game going to a 3600 and the 2 extra cores are gonna be helpful if he starts streaming.

The extra money you could put into a better gpu , which one do you have or getting ?
