i am getting the message 'cpu unworkable or has been changed please recheck soft menu' on my newbuild. if i however choose the f1 option to continue boot regardless everything boots fine and vista seems to work no problem. My setup is an Abit fatality f-190hd ati micro with a q6600 core2quad. have cleared the cmos and tried the default settings , failsafe and optimised. any ideas?

Enter the bios, setup your system as it should be and then SAVE the settings. The message will go away.

I often get that message with that crumby board & an E6600, usually only happens when overclocked. Doesn't seem to cause any problems though. Check the bios revision, there have been a few...

Yeh its a crumby board I'm afraid, you can flash it in windows but it carries more risk yes.
The bios wont make much difference to the fact its a pretty poo board though :)

Be very careful pushing this mobo mate, i've had 2 of them die on me now :-( The memory controller has a nasty habbit of keeling over and killing DIMM slots 1 an 2. If this happens you'll still be able to use the board, but only slots 3 and 4 will work, thus no dual channel ram :-(

If i were you i'd be flogging it on fleabay and putting the ££ towards another board.

"hit del to enter bios" goto freq/voltage control page, make sure it still says what you want then save + exit bios. it should go away. my AX8 does this too sometimes.
