Currently have a AM5 7600 and have a bit of an upgrade itch. Also considering it as I tried Black Myth and was getting performance below what I was given to expect for a 5070ti.

Looking at prices, once I sold the old CPU, it would cost about £150 to get into a AM5 7700X? Worth it? Not sure I really want to go full out for an X3D just yet.

What resolution? A 7600 should hold up pretty well with a 5070ti at 1440p and above with higher quality settings, though some games are starting to push the limits of a 6 core / 12 thread CPU now so an upgrade wouldn't be entirely without purpose.

Also what speed RAM are you pairing it up with?

I play at 1440p

RAM is GSkill Flare X5 6000 C30
Running PBO profile of TJMax 85C -30mv for 5.2Ghz boost clock

Honestly, most games are absolutely fine - but very recent releases like BM and Horizon seem a touch slower than I'd expect

7800x3d is the one to get

Edit scratch that looks like wukong doesn't take advantage of x3d

What motherboard are you running?

You could look at the 9000 series CPUs, maybe 9600x as long as the motherboard and BIOS support it OK.

But looking at comparisons I don't think it would really be worthwhile.

A jump to a 9700x should be quite a decent upgrade, but again depends on checking to confirm your board/BIOS is up to date to support it, and of course what budget you have and are looking at.

I'm very surprised the 7600 is struggling, if you're willing to go used or buy from China you could probably do the swap to a 7700 for around £50

I went from a 5600x to a 9800x3d and the difference was huge. Im not sure you will see that much difference going from a 7600

Moving to a 7700x won't net you much performance in gaming over a 7600, although productivity gains would be notable. A 7800x3d is really what you should be aiming for to see an uplift in gaming in most games. Even in Black Myth you should see an slight uptick due to the extra cores.
