Cpu upgrade advice pls

Hi, i don t have any experience in building computers but i want to upgrade my cpu.
my current specs are: (Speccy)
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i3 7100 @ 3.90GHz
Kaby Lake 14nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1199MHz (16-16-16-39)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. H110-D3A-CF (U3E1) 24 °C
Graphics
LG Ultra HD (2560x1440@60Hz)
8192MB ATI Radeon RX 580 Series (Unknown) 25 °C
Storage
111GB PNY CS900 120GB SSD (SATA (SSD)) 33 °C
931GB Seagate ST1000DM010-2EP102 (SATA (SSD)) 25 °C

I would like to replace the cpu and cpu's cooling system,
What processor would be suitable with my ram, motherboard and GPu
I will mostly use it for light gaming, budget is flexible as i don't know much about cpus prices.

The biggest upgrade is the i7 7700k I beleive. Second hand they are about £120+ (going on the bay)

or the i5 7600k for about £90.

Cooler as it can also fit intels newest chips

as long as your case can support 160mm tall coolers.

Im not sure if its worth the money when for under £350 you can upgrde it all and it will be much faster.

The cooler is AM5 compatible so you can use it on a later upgrade.
 
6600/6600K or 6700/6700K would also be decent upgrades if their price is better than the 7x00 CPUs. Don't pay too much for a 6700K/7700K, or you might as well get an i3-12100F or Ryzen 5 5600 with a cheap motherboard.

I think,For your needs, you could look at the Intel Core i5-9400F. It has 6 cores and 6 threads and is a great value processor for light gaming. It is compatible with your motherboard and RAM. It has a maximum clock speed of 4.1 GHz and comes with a cooler. It also comes with an unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking if you need it. The price is usually around $150, so it fits within your budget.
 
For less than £150 you can buy a ryzen 5 5600 with 6/12 threads that will absolutly destroy the 9400f in everything.
