So ive decided my processor is kinda old!

AMD Athlon x4 640 3GHz.

I have a Nvidia GTX 570 - so am i right in thinking its prob being bottle necked majorly in single core games?

I generally only play games like LoL, BF3 *couch* use to play WoW - and my GPU usage was always really low ~40%.

I was looking at a i5 3570k - but not sure if its slightly excessive?

Ill keep my ram etc - as its DDR3 and i would like sata 6gb/s as im only on 3 at the moment and do have a 6gb/s ssd (not that i will probably notice a difference!)

Thanks!

I wouldnt look at anything at the moment haswell is due in the next 6-8 weeks not a huge jump but worth the wait for the "free" 10% and the new 1150 platform.

Well the i5 3570k is a high end gaming CPU, for the price you pay it is voted best bang for the buck(if you want to go highend) along side a second hand 2500k.

However with haswell around the corner, might be worth waiting. If you don't want to upgrade to haswell or wait a 3570 is good, overkill for some games but future proof.

For a budget though, i3's seem to bode just fine, afaik so do Phenom but that would require a new board as well.
