CPU upgrade advise

Hi,

I'm looking at upgrading my CPU as I believe my current CPU (Ryzen 5 2600) is bottlenecking my GPU (Sapphire Pulse RX5700XT). I've been doing quite a bit of research on the Ryzen 5 3600, it seems like a sensible choice at very sensible money. I'm also thinking is it really that much of an upgrade from my current CPU, the 2600 is overclocked at 4.0GHZ at 1.35v.

I'm also thinking should I be upgrading my MB at the same time? I currently have an MSI B450 PRO VDH, is there any performance gains to be had that I would actually noticed by spending another £150 on a MB? or would I simply be wasting money?.

Any help is apricated

Thanks

A Ryzen 3600 is about 20% faster in games, it will make a difference.

Upgrading the motherboard will not gain you any performance, if you're going to drop a 3600 in it you will need to update the BIOS first.

It does seem like the 3600 is the best bang for my buck at the moment, is it something that will need upgrading next year or do you think i'll be good for the next 2-3 years? My Bios is currently running 7A38vMC but i could install the latest version which i belive is a beta?

It will be fine for the next 3 years, it looks like 7A38vMC is the right BIOS, it should be fine, yes the last one is a BETA anyway. :)

To be honest it does seem like a no brainer, my Ryzen 5 2600 with a brand new unused stock cooler is probably worth £60 - £80 on the second hand market, that pays for a good chunk of the 3600 making it a pretty cheap upgrade. Thanks Humbug
