Hi, i have a q6600 and was looking to upgrade to a 4790k, my question is though is it worth waiting for Broadwell or Skylake as any upgrade is going to be a massive change for me. I have my new case, power supply, massive hdd, purchasing ssd in the next month or so as my base for my new build... it's just chipset and ram it affects, thanking in advance for any answers,

As above. Broadwell looks like there will be no compelling reason to wait. Skylake is rumoured to be better IPC but until there are actual benchmarks or we know clockspeeds it is impossible to say how much better it would be in practice.

What I do know (having made a similar move in the last few months) is that the performance jump from a Q6600 to a 4790k is massive. You won't be disappointed.
