CPU upgrade for 1440p

Afternoon all.

Currently running a 1st gen ryzen 1700 and wondering if a jump to a 5600x or a 5800x would be worth doing at my resolution.

Usage is very much aimed at gaming, and at 1440p I'm.not sure how much of a boost I'd get over the 1700.
During any games the gpu, 3080fe, often its at low utilisation, 60-80% I'd say on average so I'm thinking the cpu is holding it back somewhat.

I know there is the imminent release of the 5800x3d but its highly likely that will be prices above the current 5800x's £299 so I don't think for my use case iflt would be worth it.

I've considered the 12600k and a B660 as it comes in at very similar prices but I'd then also need to sort a cooler bracket and by the sounds of it move to windows 11.

Any thoughts from anyone who has made a similar move?

So after a few whiskys last night I ordered a 5800x and the B550 tomahawk from MSI.

Zen1 to Zen3 is a very noticeable upgrade, your GPU will be able to stretch its legs.

Thanks. It's hard to find any solid comparisons for 1700 to 5800x at that resolution. Reviews either cover 1080p, or don't show cpu's as far back as the 1700.
It's served me well though, going to gift it to my brother in law, he's 15 now and really want to get a PC, should save him a few £££

It's taking some time to adjust to the temperatures though. My 1700 never got about 65 even 2ith multiple cinebench runs. This spikes to 80c almost immediately but still stays under 83c.

Yep, somebody should have mentioned the heat! . As long as you're keeping it under 90c then I wouldn't be duly concerned.

Yeah 83c is the highest during usage and its just spikes to 80c that caught me by surprise. But aside from that its running like a champ.
15800ish scores in cinebench.
My 3000mhz ram is probably holding it back a little but I can't justify 150ish on some 32gb 3600 sticks just yet. I can't see me getting large gains from the swap either
