I have an Asus P5N-E SLI 650i at the moment, with an E4300 (1.86 GHz, FSB800, 2MB) overclocked to 3.2GHz in there.

I'm adding an SSD for Windows 7 next month... but this has also got me thinking about processors. Is there a decent upgrade available? What about the Q9450 Yorkfield (2.66, FSB1333, 12MB)? Will I be able to clock it to ~4GHz on the Asus P5N-E SLI 650i? The Q9450's high multiplier might be an issue?

What kind of improvement would the Yorkfield show over my 3.2GHz E4300?

Thanks. I also have an E2160 (1.8GHz 800FSB 1MB) system running at 3GHz on a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R as a media centre PC.

So I have two systems:
E2160 (at 3GHz) on GA-P35C-DS3R P35 + ICH9R (7300GT)
E4300 (at 3.2GHz on P5N-E SLI 650i (x1950 Pro)

One needs to be my main desKtop and one needs to be the media centre. Both running Win 7.

Maybe get a Q9450 for the Gigabyte system and use that as the desktop and use the 650i with it's current E4300 for the media centre? Is the Gigabyte board good for 4GHz from a Q9450?
