Firstly here’s my current PC specs:

Core 2 Duo E6600
Asrock mobo
4 gig DDR2 GSkill Ram
4890 Toxic 1gb
Corsair tx650w PSU
22 inch LG monitor 1680x1050

I’ve been happy with my pc, and I am surprised how long my E6600 has held out for 3 and half years. However it’s now starting to show its age, crysis, Empire total war Battlefield Bad Company 2 confirm this, with Bad Company 2 the worst out of the lot, fps really takes a beating when lots of things are going on at once, and this game loves its quad cores.

I am not up to date on the CPU market, but I know Intel are bring out there new line of processors at the end of this year. However I would like to upgrade now.

I was thinking about going down the cheaper route and getting a Q9950 with a nice new motherboard, since my current Asrock does not support any Quad core CPUs.

Or I could go down the route of spending money into and i7 setup, Intel Core i7 920, new motherboard and DDR3 ram which is more expensive.

At my resolution my graphics card is fine, just my CPU is letting down my current system, has any one got any advice on what I should do, go down the cheaper route or put my money into an i7 setup. Thanks for any suggestions.
