I currently have an Athlon64 3400+, what CPU would be best for balance in performance and price on AM2 (I dont want to spend too much but would like a decent performance increase) Thanks.

Well im guessing with a 3400+ youre on S754, unless you actually have a Sempron 3400+ AM2

So if you arent aleady on AM2 then you will require new mobo and RAM, and maybe a new VGA card if youre on an AGP card.

Do you have a budget in mind?

I am on S754, but i have an Asrock board with the cpu upgrade slot, so i can get a AM2 board and just plug it in mine, and my budget would be around £100 proberbly, but i would have to have a decent performance increase to justify buying it.(Its mainly to keep this comp going for abit longer i already have a x1950pro AGP but feel the CPu is still the main problem)

With the Asrock CPU board im 99% sure you have to use DDR2 ram with it as it disables the onboard ram and cpu sockets

Bu with slighlty over £100 you could get the asrock socket 775 board that takes C2D cpus as well as DDR1/AGP stuff.

Couple that board with an E4300 and you would have a much better system.
