My computer is almost 4 years old and although most games seem to run a decent frame rate I am wondering If I would get a decent performance increase in my DCS flight sims if I were to upgrade my CPU.

My current PC has a sandybridge I7 2600k

I am looking to upgrade to a skylake I7 6700.

Any idea what kind of performance percentage wise I might benefit with this upgrade

Many thanks

My mobo is a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4

I could use the easy tune settings I guess and get an oc up to 4.3

Also I have just recently discovered that I cant access the bios during startup with my current keyboard Roccat MK Pro the DEL key doesn't seem to register.

When I purchased my pc 4 years ago I bought the motherboard, memory and CPU as an overclocked bundle alas I lost the overclock settings years ago when I did a bios update. Anyways the CPU was overclocked to at least 4.4 or thereabouts when first purchased and the cooler is a corsair H80.

I tried using the Easytune 6 software today to overclock the CPU to 4.3 but after 15 mins or so at load the temperature had crept up to 80c. Cant understand why it went so hot surely the water cooler would have kept it much lower than that.

should I get a new cooler or would the original thermal paste require replacing ?

Any thoughts
