Mobo: msi b460m pro-vdh
Current cpu is i3-10100f quad core

I’m after upgrading cpu to something a bit more powerful had this for 2 years now in sons pc (keeping the 3060ti, gaming at 1440p)
Please can someone give some opinions of the best cpu available and the best bang for buck cpu upgrade that fits in this mobo is there any 6 or 8 core cpus?

Cheers

10600k is identical to the 10700k in gaming performance and can be between 10% to 20% faster than the 10100 depending on game.

The 10600k can be picked up for £160 new and selling your old CPU wil make it £110 upgrade which is not to shabby imo.

10600 or 10600K would be my suggestion, if you can get one around £100.

The extra cores of the 10700/10700K are nice to have, but paying a lot more is not worth it, since at that point you might as well just upgrade to 12-14th gen CPUs.

Games that play well enough @ 1440p on the 3060 Ti are unlikely to show huge gains between the two, tbh.

Cheers for the input guys. Will look out for 10600/10700 2nd hand. Yes just upgrading the cpu for now will leave the mobo for another few years. Is it 10th gen only on lga1200 or does 11th gen use the same socket?

They're the same socket, but you have a 10th gen board that doesn't support 11th gen (this restriction appliied to H410 and B460, but not Z490).
