which way should i go for upgrading ? , i would like something that does not bottleneck my crossfired 5770's . my phenom II 720BE is just not got enough power/performance for my liking , but which way should i go ? . been looking at the fastest amd quad core , but that means upgrading my mobo also and my memory . not worked out how much i want to spend yet , yet again i do not want to spend a fortune either . it must last me a few years performance wise

what is your budget?
have you tried overclocking your 7200BE?
what MB adn RAM do you currently have?

1: not sure yet but some where around the £200 mark
2: yes it's running at 3.3ghz (fastest stable overclock)
3: biostar ta790gx 128m and Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 8500C5

and the max my mobo supports is the phenom II 945

yes multi only and not tried anything else since it kept giving BSod's with the multi at x17 , and yes the crossfired 5770's are nice but they do not bench well in my system . one 5770 clocked at 900/1250 scores just over 9078 in vantage , but in crossfire they score only 11509 which seems poor to me for 2 5770 in crossfire . also they will not overclock in crossfire for some reason

dual core ? its a tri core lol , anyways in the reviews i read before i got the seccond 5770 they were getting around 60% increase plus . but the were running the i7 965 and i7 975 overclocked , as for performance in games it seems fine if i do not use aa . when aa is turned on at x2 i get stuttering in farcry2 and stalker cs + a few others

which settings ? , do you use aa in game ?

edit : mind you i have had stutter in games with aa turned on with my old 3870x2 and my 4870 512 and now with my 5770's , so it must be something wrong with something else in my system

had to set the mem speeds my self cause on auto it kept setting them to run at 800mhz and not 1066 , mem timings 5-5-5-15 and left the rest on auto . what should the multi for the ht and nb be set at ? , atm it is set to x10

got it to 3.36 but it was not stable , so back to 3.3 :( . think i will go back to the old bios which seemed better to be honest , but that gave incorrect temps

no go on getting past 3.3ghz , and now thats not that stable when playing ra3 . think i will go full am3 of change to intel , this has to last me a good while but not cost the earth so am3 might be the cheapest way tbh

true but in stalker/cs and farcry2 if i turn on aa at 2x or more i get stutter/pauses , tried everything to get rid of it . even lowered the res but nothing worked , stange thing is i can run crysis warhead at 1680x1050 at gamer settings with 2x aa and it averages 40-50 fps . something has to be wrong with my system , could it be my os as it's the 32bit home basic version ? . tbh the mobo is not that good tbh

going to get some better case fans first , the one i got from ocuk a few moths ago has already making strange noises lol . no been overclocking a few years on and off , this is the newest setup i have had and not managed to get it running as i want it tbh . memory is at 1062 i think , soon as i go to raise the multi now than the fsb is overclocked i get weird colours on the task bar
