Hi guys, wow I can't believe how stressful this pre Christmas treat upgrade for myself is going.
As per some great advice here I've upgraded my machine from a 1200 to a 3100. I researched first if I needed a bios update for my MSI gaming b450m and it turned out that I did. So I upgraded through windows ( USB flashing scares me ) to what I thought was the latest version. MSI live update says I'm on v 1.60 now. Mobo is msi b450m gaming plus.
Upon booting up with new cpu everything sounds fine no error beeps but I get no signal at all no splash screen nothing at all. Its not cables or ram or the GPU seating I've tried all those. When I put trusty old 1200 back in it booted straight away.
Am I on the right track with the bios? It seems like a cpu/mobo issue to me. If my cpu was DOA would I experience anything different? Beeps maybe?
