I got a E6850@stock would it be worth me getting a E8600?
Im a gamer thats why i aint chosen a quad, also ive never overclocked before thats why everythings at stock.

Basically no. You will see a very small increase. See my comparison thread here. your E6850 is slightly faster clock for clock then the E6600 i used so the results would be even smaller. The E8600 is hideously overpriced. It's only 330mhz faster than the E8400 yet is £90 more expensive!! ignore the "Overclocking E0 Stepping" rubbish. They are all E0 steppings and that's just the shops way to try to make people choose a more expensive cpu.

The best way to get some extra performance would be to clock what you have. You should see at least 3.6Ghz from your E6850 looking at your spec. The P5Q Pro is an excellent clocker. What ram do you have? No reason not to overclock really. You say you have never done it before yet we were all in the same boat at one point. We all have to start somewhere.

What Pastymuncher said, would be next to no difference between them really and the E8600 is way overpriced for what is essentially a speed binned E8500..

Overclock your E6850 and you will notice a massive difference, read the beginners guide in the Overclocking section and if you get stuck make a thread and many people will be able to give you advice :)
