Hi,

I currently have an AMD64 3500+

I am looking at buying a AMD64X2 3800+

I do not overclock.

Is there a substantial enough speed difference between the 2 chips to justify my buying it ?

OK, I have :

2Gb Gskill ZX PC3200 RAM
MSI K8N SLI mobo
Leadtek Geforce 7800GT gfx card

I play games mostly such as CS:S, Guildwars.

I also develop applications using ruby, php and mysql - this does not require massive CPU usage.

If you run a few apps at once you will notice a huuuge difference.

Example. I upgraded from a 3700 Claw to a 3800X2. On paper the Claw is faster for some things but in real world the X2 blows it away.
