Im currently considering an upgrade on cpu, as my current one is bottlenecking my x1900xtx.

im currently using an a64 winchester 3200 @ 2.6ghz. Ive decided that i want to upgrade to an x2 just not sure which.

My cpu is watercooled, my new cpu will be also. Im looking to overclock a decent amount.

Which cpu should i go for. Im looking at getting the 4400 for the 1mb of cache and then hoping to clock it up to 2.6ghz atleast. This possible?

well basically i should get some boost, mainly in cod im looking for which has the dual core patch, but the extra cache should also give me a small boost. basically i wont be upgrading for awhile after this so its sorta last chance.

edit for the price as well about £165 not bad for the cpu.

any ideas what these clock to?

ideally id want at least 2.6ghz on water, but any more would be great. Will give the shop a ring tomorrow or webnote them to ask about which ones they have in stock, as the 89w would be better than the 100w for my psu and heat as well.

I believe i will get a boost, because for a start il have more cache which should help, as well as a bit more clock speed. Also instead of 1 core doing the game and windows etc, il have 1 core doing the game the other windows. That should give me an increase. Like i said im being bottlenecked by my cpu at 1280 x 1024 so in need of a cpu boost.

The 4400 is a good choice.

I think you will easily get 2.6 on water, assuming the rest of your system is decent (mobo + ram) then its likley you will get 2.8 pretty easily.

ram is some corsair xms ddr 500, doesnt like being much over 500 but it will easily clock to 510 maybe bit higher.

Motherboard, asus a8n sli deluxe, will clock up to about 280fsb before it complains so it should be good for clocking.
