CPU upgrade?

Hi all,

I'm a bit out of touch, could anyone please confirm if a quad core Intel CPU will fit into my Asus P5B deluxe motherboard? And if so would there be an point in replacing my current CPU, a dual core I'm still running at stock 2.4?

I use it 99% for gaming, playing CoH and CSS and DoD etc. It seems a bit slow when I turn stuff off, particularly when I exit Company of Heroes. I've just looked at the CPU forum and the general concensus seems to be that its not worth upgrading at the moment. I wonder what else I could do
