I am fairly sure my CPU has been fried and am looking to upgrade it.

I do not know much about CPU's and was wondering which would be the best CPU for me to buy.
(Best for gaming, AMD maybe?)

I will also need to buy a new fan to go with the suggested CPU if you could suggest one too please :)

I can spend roughly £150 or so.

I was also wondering if I would need to change anything else in my system to make me able to use my new CPU when i buy it?

Would this CPU work with my mobo?

Oh and if possible could anyone tell me a way to test my current CPU to see if it is working or not?

My computer will not turn on, it sometimes comes on for about 1 second and then dies again and I believe the power supply is still working and not broken..

Your best bet would be to change out the parts gradually. Try your CPU in a friends system or lend a PSU of someone to place in yours. Process of elimination is whats got to happen to find out the problem.

I am more incliend to think PSU though as cpu's rarely go south unless madly overclocked with insane voltages.

I have found out that it is the CPU but have no idea what one to get. I am not sure which ones can go in my motherboard.

Can you suggest me a CPU for around £150 that will work on my motherboard?

775 chipset I believe.
