CPU upgrade?

Hello, i'm currently using a Intel Pentium G620 2.60GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail. With a 650TI boost 2gb graphics card, and 8GB RAM. I've been noticing a lot of stuttering and in-game lag recently while playing TERA, Vindictus, AC4.

I wasn't sure if my CPU isn't up for these titles, and would need to upgrade or not? I'm interested in an i5, but unsure if it'll actually give me a large boost to my gaming. Is it possibly my Hard drive which is causing the stuttering? I'm using a very old hard drive which was in my computer from years ago. I'm not planning on overclocking.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I don't plan on overclocking though. My budget is around £180.

Thanks for the replies.

Just wondering why a i5 3470 over a 3570k? I was originally planning on getting that instead. Is there any reason to go for a 3470 instead?

Also will upgrading to an i5 smoothen out my frame rates, and stutters? As this is a major problem with my gaming recently.

Is it necessary to update my BIOS to use Ivybridge? My most recent version is from 01/18/2012 v2.3. Or still would need to be? I also don't have a floppy drive, is it safe to update it using MSI live update 5? Sorry for all the questions, i'm a little clueless about updating the BIOS.

I updated the BIOS today successfully without any problems using M-flash. I'll have to see how the new processor works out before I replace the hard drive, but it's definitely something i'll need very soon. Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.
