Hi forum am wanting to upgrade my cpu in the near future I currently have a intel i5 750 quad core .Now with my new msi r9 290 gaming edition am wanting a better cpu for my setup which socket is best 1150 or 1155 and am looking to spend about £160 on a intel cpu which narrows it down to a i5 any ideas which would be the best buy for my budget

Thanks

I am interest in this also so if you could post recommendations for amd/intel cpu's and motherboards that would be great

Is it definetly bottlenecking it?
I got a 4670k personally as its a bit better than the 3570k and pretty much the same money and the newer motherboards generally have more features. I got the G1.sniper Z87

If you are upgrading to remove or reduce the bottleneck as much as you can, going AMD might not be an ideal choice. In lighter threaded apps, the amd rig will definitely bottleneck you heavily. If all you play is Bf4 and other games which can make use of the fx 8 core threads, then it is a real option which can save you a ton of money, if not, dont go that way as you wont get the most out of your GPU.

What games do you play?

Motherboards i for 1150 i would recommend for gaming/overclocking primarily are:

The g1 sniper for nice onboard sound and overall good quality and value with a UK RMA

The MSI g45 if you plan on going Crossfire but are on a budget.

Gigabyte OC if you want the best overclocking board in that price bracket with loads of PCIe slots and a UK RMA and also dont mind spending a little extra for it.
