CPU upgrade

Hi all

I currently have a skylake i5 6600k, running clock speed at the moment.
I've recently got into 3D printing, and designing things on my PC, but occasionally i get a bit of lag, a couples of seconds usually.
Is it worth upgrading to a i7 7700k for example? I believe i can put that straight into my Z170 board.

Its about time AMD caught up, last time I had an AMD was when they first released the Athlon 64s skt 939's lol.
Think I should save for a proper upgrade instead then!
