Hi all

Iv Recently Bought a DELL Studio 15 , While Waiting 4 it be delivered iv been looking up on it and the processor is not really THAT powerful and i was on a budget when i bought it , just for future purposes can i upgrade it? I would do it after the warranty cuts out though, Any1 else here upgraded these lappys?

Thankssssssss :D

you can use anything that is a Mobile Socket P processor even 1066FSB cpu's.

i've upgraded my original fujitsu Pi2515 from a T5250 1.5Ghz 800FSB to a T7100 1.8Ghz to now a T7500 2.2Ghz 800FSB. I however am stuck to using 800FSB Socket P chips due to using the GM965 Mobile Chipset, while yours would probably be a PM965 Chipset at a guess.

the t4200 is a great chip , its the same architecture as a core 2 duo but with less l2 cache. basicaly it IS a C2D

saying its not that powerful is misguided tbh. its on par with a amd 5200 x2 .

Cache is a bit grim though... Will be the killer. Upgrading in the future is definitely a good plan, as it's a Dell there'll be simple to follow instructions on how to do it. :)

I think more important than a CPU upgrade would be a 7200rpm hard-disk, they really do make all the difference.

yeah i have 2 7200rpm drives in my HP laptop and its a good upgrade
and the new 7200rpm 2.5in drives use very little extra power, so battery life is fine

Yeah i got the lappy now and its niiiiiiice , runs all the games i throw at it ( Pro 9 , Crysis & L4D .The cpu upgrading is something i will definatly be lookin 2 do in the future also the hard drive as you guys mentioned lol i actually 4got the HDD has an affect on performance 2 !

if space isnt too much of an issue you could instead of going to a 7200RPM look at some SSD's. i know its perhaps going to be double the price of a 7200 but i think the performance would be much better
