Hi,
I'd like to clarify exactly what I need to do to upgrade my system from a Phenom II tri-core CPU to a 965 quad. I did the upgrade last night and it seems OK but I want to check. I did:
- reset overclock settings for CPU FSB clock and multiplier. Kept memory timings, voltages.
- removed old CPU, installed new one & cooler.
- set new FSB & multiplier for new CPU.
- in Vista, uninstalled each core of the old CPU in device manager. Rebooted and watched the new drivers install for the new CPU.
I haven't updated the BIOS yet, though I think I probably should as my motherboard didn't seem to automatically detect the FSB & multiplier correctly for this CPU. According to the Gigabyte website there is a BIOS update that supports this CPU - not sure what BIOS version I have yet though.
I haven't updated the chipset drivers though I think I will later.
So I guess my questions are, have I missed anything? Will I need to alter my memory settings?
Cheers
