I've never actually upgraded from a CPU to another one before in the same system; only new builds have I installed them.

My current CPU is a 939 AMD 64 3800+ newcastle (single core).

My new CPU is a X2 4800+ (939 too)

Is it basically just a plug and play thing? Whip the old one out, stick the new on in and it should work? Or is there more to it than that (minus the reseating etc)

Done!

All installed and reseated. Task Manager appears to show 2 CPUs which is a good thing I suppose :p

Any other tests I can do to make myself feel better for getting a Dual Core eventually?

I'm amazed by how much FPS I get compared to my single core 3800!!!! Must have doubled or trebled!

I've been able to put certain processes on to a seperate corem thus enabling pretty much just the game to a core all on its own.

I was told there's a Windows Dual Core fix that I should download? Is this true or are they winding me up? What should I google?
