Cpu usage Trouble!

When my friend opens firefox, has has say two tabs open, its recording him using 100% of his CPU, but if he closes firefox, goes down to 5%, i believe that is an extremely high amount for a web browser, anyone know if its a known fault ?

Firefox 2 is an awful memory hog as well. Firefox 3 is a huge improvement - if he hasn't already, uninstall 2 and install 3. Back up the bookmarks first, but they should be retained, always have been for me
