Hey, I have a Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.0ghz with HT

When I am in game (Call of Duty 2) the CPU usage goes to around 28% - 30%

Is this normal for while I am playing a game? I also have about 55 processes running at the same time, I dont know half of them.

With the CPU running at 30% is this likely to cause "jerkyness" while I'm playing COD2, because I am experiencing this, but it only started like 2 weeks ago, and when I play Singleplayer with no Internet involved, the game is fine.

Thanks! Steve :)

just tried cod2 myself again, cpu usage in both sp and mp is 50%, probably course it isnt properly scripted for 2 threads, try disabling hyper threading, also check your connection, as i find my game smoother in mp as sp (ps. also have a 3.0 ghz p4)
55 processes seems a bit much, i am using my current config for over 5 years and just 39 processes...

About the jerkyness: can be anything from cpu to vga card. Try cleanign the background apps to free mroe RAM for gaming, also as i said above try cod2 w/o Hyper threading...

Thanks!

I will try the things you said, but I just dont see why it has started to happen now......

Could a monthly download cap of 2GB also have something to do with it? me and my brother both play COD2 simultaniously and we also have a laptop on our network, so could have we used our 2GB for August.

Any idea when our cap returns to ZERO for September?

Steve

55 processes runnig is a lot concidering XP installs with about 12

Google all of the *.exe if you want to know whats running

Then probably your conenction, when cap is reached internet slows down to 56k speeds usually, 2 gb cap is a very small cap im using over 150 gigs a month myself and have no caps, yeah if you have a cap it will reset starting from next month, so just wait and see i suppose, 55 processes are indeed a lot as 3dfx said, may need to clean your pc to improve overall performance.
