CPU VOLTAGE CONTROL (First OC try, pictures :))

so in the BIOS I have:

CPU VOLTAGE CONTROL set to 1.45V
and
NORMAL CPU VCORE it says it's on 1.325V (can't edit this one).

now does this mean my VCORE is 1.45 or 1.325?

Cheers :)

It means the normal running voltage for the cpu is 1.325v,but you have yours running at 1.45v

Are you overclcoked it take it ? Just with you using 1.45v

Yoy have an E6600 & a DS3 if i remember correctly mate ?

Rob

lo Rob ;)

E6600 and 965P-S3, not DS3.

Thanks for the fast reply dude ;)

Overclocked to 2800 MHZ :p (First OC I ever did).

But I think I didn't setup the memory settings right in the BIOS

No,it won't do any damage @1.45v,but you may not need that much, less will obviously lower temps as well ;)

so you saying 1.35V will do even with 3000 mhz?

and maybe u can help me with the memory i'm a bit confused,

now my memory bus is 310 mhz - fsb ratio 1:1, that means i'm getting 620 mhz right? i used to get 667, maybe I'm wrong not sure ;P

Yep,your memory is running @ 620Mhz just now.Default will be 333Mhz. Have you tried 333Mhz x9 ? Leave your memory@1:1.

It's all down to trial & error mate,as far as how much voltage it needs

Whats your cooling ? Temps etc ?

Rob

made a small change,

now raised the fsb to 320 so getting around 2880 mhz and reduced the vcore to 1.37, what do u think?

temps currently on idle 43 on 100% load getting around 55c, although cpu cooler runing at 1400 rpm (arctic cooling freezer 7 pro, it can get 2500 rpm on max)

I'm going to run some games and i will be testing with ORTHOS over night.

do u think i should go for 3ghz?

Alright it's on 3 ghz and I stay there as my memory won't let me go further.

8 hours of ORTHOS on blent test - passed :p priority set to 10.

few pictures, please do tell me if u see anything that is not "normal":

Looks fine to me,nice one mate ;)

Enjoy :D :D

Hi rob :D

What do you think about the VDIMM, it was on v1.8 and i raised it by 0.3 so i got 2.1? too high don't u think?

334 mhz 1:1 @ 5-5-5-15 timings

I think your ram is Twinmoss PC2-5300 right ? is rated 1.8v +0.1.So it should run stock timings@ 1.8v-1.9v

If all is ok,stable etc.I would'nt worry too much.Although, like you done with the cpu volts, you could lower it & see how you get on.Since it was a bios issue & not the ram volts like we originally thought, you can probably lower the Vdimm,no real point in using extra volts unless you really have to

Are you stopping your overclock @3Ghz ,or going for more, you should be able to get a bit more yet :D Unless your happy with it now of course

What about 350x9 now ? You may need extra volts through the ram for that though, but it's been running with 2.1v anyway ,with no probs

Remember, once the overclocking bug gets you, you've had it.There's no going back :p

Rob

Hi

I think I will stop the OC at this stage, I really don't think I need more than that

Thinking about OC'ing me graphics card, your thoughts? :D

and btw I'm gonna lower the ram volts to +0.1 instead of + v0.3

thanks rob you're a good man i tell ya :p
