CPU vs GPU

I have just built a Sempron 2800 based pc and will shortly be building a P4 2ghz. Neither system has a GPU and have been build from stuff I mostly blagged.

So my question is how far up the GPU food chain can I go before my processors start to provide a bottle neck??

its resolution dependant and also repends on the games you wish to play.

I am currently running an old CRT monitor at 1024 768. I am intending to build a more heavy weight system in the future and am trying to learn without costly mistakes. Id like to be able to play more modern games with reasonable settings but am not expecting Oblivion with everything on. I like FPS and Flight sims

A 6800 GT or GS or ultra would be very good for that rez u should be able to max most things.

The new ones do not carry the Pentium moniker. He's referring to a Netburst CPU, probably a socket 478 model.

Well then, I stand corrected. Regardless, I'd place a hefty bet on it being a Netburst CPU, probably a RK80532PC041512.

Its a Northwood 2ghz. 400 bus. Its an auction site special on a asrock motherboard from the same place. It is my first experience with PCI Express too.
