Am I right in thinking that with a E2140 @ FSB 333mhz, to get optimum performance the RAM would have to be 666mhz?

iirc the CPU is quad pumped to 1333mhz and the DDR2 RAM is dual channel to 1333mhz.

Is that correct or not?

Of the back of your thread E2140 vs E6600 I bought the E2140 and ballistix PC 5300.

I was looking to get about 2.6ghz from the cpu so 333x8 does me fine

I was wondering what the best setting for the ram would be, would it be leaving @ stock then, 667mhz.

Unfortunately I think I got a "duff" chip, I hit the FSB wall at 360 :(

The CPU was only a stop gap until something else tickles my fancy i.e native quad. I am still pleased with "only" a 65% or so increase lol

Besides it was a HUGE increase from my Celeron D 341 2.9ghz, so I'm happy.

I tried the ram at iirc 5:8, FSB 333, RAM 533 and there was not any noticable difference.

I suppose there would be when encoding or something Memory intensive but not for general surfing e.t.c.

Or maybe it has sumat to do with the frequency between the CPU to NB and the NB to RAM, perhaps the data transfer rate has to be the same so the higher RAM frequency becomes irrelevant ????

Can someone clarify please.
