Hi, i bought my entire machine from ocuk about 2 weeks ago. was working fine until i started to get blue screens.

i then noticed my cpu temp was much higher than it used to be. the first few days i got it the cpu temp was around 20 degreese idle, then after a few more days i noticed it was around 30, and now 40 on idle

the fan speed is working at 3000rpm and never gone below.

Im just a bit worried as when i tried some very small overclocking, (clock speed to 210mhz) it instantly blue screens and restarts. thats only pushing it to 3.15ghz. its now back to 200mhz

Since you bought the machine from OcUK I'd inform them of the situation via webnote - you don't want to wreck your warranty if you break anything!

If the temp is rising like that, i'd say the heatsink is loose, and would also suggest reseating it. If the idle temp is rising like that, don't up the voltage until you've got the temp back down.

When you take the heatsink off to reseat, check the spread of thermal paste. You may find that its missing a section...

well i have moved it to another house since i got it. i bought some themal paste i didnt use yet.

the heatsink already had some on it. how to i apply it? blob in the middle or what?

Thanks all

Make sure you clean all the old stuff off first.. if you have some TIM cleaner, use that. If not, just some tissue will do the job...

I usually put a line a couple of mm in the middle of the cpu, with a single tiny blob in 4 corners.... thats probably too much, but i've never had problems with overheating, so i've stuck with it.

When you put the heatsink on, before you clamp it down, twist the cooler while pushing down on it.
