CPU-Z and CoreTemp vs Motherboard Vcore?

Hi all, first post here.

I recently bought a pc and I got the overclock and it was 4.2ghz. I noticed the vcore in cpu-z and coretemp both show up as 1.3561v.

In the motherboard it shows up as 1.17 with an offset of +0.020.

What's going on ? I want to lower the vcore to around 1.25v as I've read that is about right for 4.2ghz and 1.35 is usually for people who want to reach 4.5ghz. I'm happy with 4.2ghz, so would like lower temps. But I don't understand what's going on here? If it was showing up as 1.33v in mobo I'd get it but I totally don't get this.

Internal PLL over volting i've turned off.

Also, I have the power saving option turned on, as well as speed step, but neither the voltage or the clock speed lowers even when the pc is idleing on 0-1% cpu usage.

???
Ideas?

Last time I overclocked was a Q6600...lol.

by the way I have a P8Z68 PRO/GEN3 mobo and i5 2500k.

When what was set to balanced?

core temp uses VID and iirc VID is slightly different from vcore

correct, VID is the necessary voltage received voltage I think. (ha got it wrong). But why does the VID and vcore show up the same? That's not right is it?
Ugh, and I thought OCing was meant to be easier these days.

but, 1.17+0.020 != 1.3561. This is why I'm confused and wondering what I'm missing.

Don't want to change any settings until I totally understand it.
