CPU-Z incorrect speed.

Hi, ive got a Core 2 duo E8400 default clock speed is 3Ghz, its just when i go into CPU-Z its reading as 1999mhz, tried different software all says 3gig, what should i believe?

Speedstep

It will slow your cpu down when idle to save power and put it back to full speed when in use.

You could disable speedstep in motherboard bios.

You might have EIST in the BIOS as well.

Done a thread a while back back - Clicky might be helpfull

No point though really. Just leave it on.
