I've just started overclocking my CPU and have CPU-Z open, it keeps jumping from x6 to x9 on the multi and showing different core speeds. Is this normal??

I did think that might have been the case but I couldn't find any power save cool'n'quiet things in my mobo (ip35).

EDIT:

Found

EIST (Enhanced Intel Speedstep Tech)
C1E (Enhanced Halt State)

Either of those bad boyz?

Do they both need to come off for a stable overclock or can I leave them flicking between x6 and x9. Seems it only underclocks to x6 when the machine is idle which is pretty cool as means less power consumption etc.

Or will it screw things up?

best to find a stable clock with them off...then if you want turn them on and see how it runs.

I have left it on

thats the whole point of the system to have a lower power useage at idle :)

ive left them on and my pc is pretty happy :)
