SPD (what ever that is comes back with this info)

PC2 5300 (333MHZ) 1024 Mbytes

So urm i have vista 64 bit and 2 gig just ain't cutting it really. So i wanted to get another 2 gig of ram. I don't play games only halo2, what ram do i look for from OC please?

Ive had a look in my asrock manual for my motherboard and it says.

4 x DDRII DIMM SLOTS
Support DDRII667/533 (CAUTION 4)
MAX Capacity 4GB

Caution 4 states all ram must be the same speed, size, brand and chip type :)

SPD is nothing more than text built into the RAM for reference only. I would just buy a 2+2 4gig 6400 kit and take out the 2 gig kit.

Thank you. Just one more thing, please.

6400 would work ok tho? So i take out the 2 gig i have. And then buy 4 gig. Do i need to buy 4 lots of 1 gig or 2 sticks of 2 gig? Confused already :(

But my mobo manual says 667/533???? is the speed of the ram???

So as long as the speed of the ram is 667 or 533 i could go for 8500 or 1066??

thanks

Intel core 2 duo e6600 2393.4mhz conroe bus Speed 265 rated FSB1063

Do i buy a 6400 kit or better? and would my mobo take it?

Hey DAMO RAM80,

You haven't written what asrock motherboard you have?

Your processor (E6600) needs DDR2-533 to run as standard and DDR2-1066 to run the system it's fastest

DDR2-533 (PC2-4200) 266MHz
DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) 333MHz
DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) 400MHz
DDR2-1066 (PC2-8500) 533MHz

You need to find out if your motherboard can support memory running at 1066MHz-DDR2, if you can't figure it out then tell us the exact mobo model name and maybe we can help more! :p

I'd also say a nice 4GB (2x2GB) of memory would be good (DDR2-800/DDR2-1066?) and then sell your used 2GB(2x1GB) kit and buy a pizza!

Thanks for the full reply thats great :D

Buy a pizza lol cheeky lol

The model number/name is

would suggest you can use 667/533... Go for 800 anyway and if it doesn't work downclock it.
