Hi,

Just checked in CPU-Z and noticed my CPU at 1.6GHZ, it then went to 2.4GHZ and back down again.

I checked my temps in TAT and Core#1 and Core#2 are 27oC idle, so it's not throttling.

Everest and XP info is showing it at 2.4GHZ

Any ideas please?

[EDIT]

Just realised that it seems to be adjusting itself... 1.6GHZ idle, 2.4GHZ under load (TAT load). I want the 2.4GHZ all the time so I guess there's some option to turn it off.

Thanks,
Craig.

Disable EIST (intel enhanced speedstep) and C1E (enhalnced halt state), both these lower the cpu's multi when idle.

Thank you :)

I've been checking it out and it does seem to instantly change the clock speed from 1.6GHZ to 2.4GHZ.

But I'm still wondering about it... surely it'd slow down the startup time of smaller applications or even stuff like opening the start menu?

But seriously, there's not much point for me, especially if I'm sticking with stock speeds. This CPU uses less power than my old PCs 3GHZ Prescott anyway IIRC ;)

However, it does keep it nice and cool :p:
