Hey guys time for noob question of the month!

I have clocked my E6600 to 3.001Ghz and it does super pi 1meg in 17.1 seconds, however when I run CPU-Z the corespeed says it is about 2Ghz on both cores. I cant add a picture of it at the moment as im at work, but anyone know what im doing wrong, I think I have the latest version but cant be sure, it also says Im multiplying my bus speed of 334 by 6 but im not it is by 9. The latest version of Sandra tells me it is running at 3Ghz to.

Im using the MSI power up mlb with 2 gig gskill ram 6400 NR version. Any advice would be appricated.

Cool thanks guys, will it boost the power of the cpu or will it just register properly as 3ghz?

Im guessing speed stepping just underclocks the cpu when it thinks you dont need the power and then when you play games or whatever it boosts it again. This is a pure guess.

Forgive my ignorance but is there any point in disableing speedstep then? Why would I really want my pc running so fast if im not actually doing anything? I will not be clocking it more than I have, not for the near future anyway, as at 3ghz it runs like a dream, well for me anyway.
