Just ran cpu-z on my e6750 stock and it says multiplyer is x6 buss speed 333.3
core speed 2000mhz but the multiplyer should be x8.
it reads 8 in bios and reads 2.66ghz on bootup, just cpu-z reads as 2000mhz

any ideas why this would happen?

Sounds like intel speedstep is on. It increases to the correct clockspeed when the processor is under load.

It's an energy saving initiative.

Your chip will flip straight up to 8x when you do anything strenuous, watch CPU-Z with SuperPi running.

If I'm not overclocking I leave Speedstep/C1E on.
