Hello good people, please can someone tell me I am being paranoid, just started to put together my new rig. i am using a 990x cpu, have built loads of i7 based rigs before and the the clip that holds down the processor have been really difficult to close but this one if anything was too easy, any comments would be really welcome, thanking you in advance, regards

There is a bit of variability amongst intel sockets. As long as the pins are contacting and it is not possible to move the cpu at all in the socket it should be fine. Perhaps it was a little greasy or there was a minute dimensional difference in the cam, it would not take much.

Thank you sir for your reply, because this is our own money makes me jumpy. I`m using a rampage 3 black, my current rig when I fitted the 920 in I thought the clip was going to break. Everything looks fine and so far just hope it fires up ok, thanks again regards

Same with my P67-GD65... the leaver made a horrible grinding sound when I pushed it down, but that's just how they are apparently. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Even if the clamp doesn't hold it down completely/firmly the cpu cooler will and the design of the socket is such that the pins can't be misaligned.
