Cpu

Can’t decide on what cpu to buy, 5600x or 5800x. I’ve done a bit of research and they are very similar for gaming performance which is what I will be needing. I’m tempted to go for 5800x for additional cores for future proofing?

Yes, future proofing means that you should be able to use the 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X longer without a need to upgrade.

Very little difference in terms of gaming performance. But if you run quite a few back ground apps whilst gaming then the difference in cost between the 5600x and 5800x is worth it.

In the long run the 5800x should be a better buy

If the cost is not an issue. Which seems to be the case.

Then yes, buy the 5800x.

Those extra cores will help in the long term as mentioned above.

Both great CPUs I've got a 5600x and 5950x and notice very little difference between them in general day to day usage and gaming. You won't be disappointed with either but if you're comfortable spending the extra £100 I'd go for the 5800x
