Lo,
I'm looking at getting a 939 cpu jus wondering which one to get???
sadly i cant stretch to get the 3700 unless some money grows on a tree so im looking to spend about 85-90 quid.
What im wondering is, is why the AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3500BPBOX) (CP-119-AM) is cheaper than the oem version???????

Normally its the other way round (i.e. OEM's cheaper). AMD have cut prices recently & I guess Retail chips will be the first to go low:)

but is there any difference in speed e.t.c??? As im doing a little mini upgrade... Getting a
msi rd480 for £30.00
CPU??
2GB GeIL 3200 for 50 quid
Tagan TG420-UO2 420W I-XEYE ATX2.0 Silent PSU for 20
80GB s.a.t.a hdd
I jus need to know whether a would it be worth getting a 3000+ and oc'ing itand then spending a lil more on a gfx card all i want is summit that will play cs:s nicely till i get enough to do a full upgrade!!!

If your comfortable/confident in overclocking then I'd definatley say go for the much cheaper 3000+. Most Overclockers here have theirs doing speeds higher than the 3500+ & more. But from the money saved, get a mobo that you are assured of a good overclock (personally don't know which one to recommed, though 'OcUKclockers' swear by the pricey DFI's)

If you look round you can get a Retail 3800+ Venice for £95, obviously I can't say where.

ah i went for the 3200+ got it quite cheap and will get a better coller then oc it... Ive got a msi rd480 for 30 quid of BGrade and it has everything apart from a manual which is good cos ill jus get it off the internet but is it any good at oc'ing

 I've just realised what I said, I thought you said it isn't very good at overclocking, when you said IS it very good at overclocking. I apologise dude, it should be pretty good at overclocking, like I said earlier with my confusing statement, MSI generally are good overclockers. Sorry once again!
