Not long ago, was building a pc for my mum, for basic browsing etc.
Bought MSI H81M-P33 Motherboard for £33, ended up saying usb device over current bla bla, got a refund, not sure whos fault it was though.

Intel Pentium G3258 CPU (Dual Core 3.20GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150)
Is the CPU im supposedly running on.

Now I bought the **B Grade** Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard from OC.

I've read somewhere, that a motherboard would try to save the CPU before itself usually? So I assume it was the boards fault previously..hope this one works well..if not I guess it may be the CPU fault?

You better hope someone has flashed that Z87 board with an updated bios. If it was untouched, it's unlikely to support the G3258 out of the box.

If it was Windows saying that, that could have been the wrong Intel drivers.

Wouldn't have been the CPU - if that was dead, you wouldn't see any error message!

I've only had one CPU fail. It was an Opteron 165 delidded with a slight chip in the IHS. It was a decent chip and could do 3Ghz on air until it died one day.

However it was second hand and I'm sure the delid caused most of the issues...

Whereas I've still running an overclocked AMD 3200 and Q6600 which were both bought at launch, so quite some time ago now and still going well!
