hi, i have got my e4300 set at 2.6ghz in the bios and is confirmed in windows system info, but when i run cpuz it says it is at 1.7 with a 6x multiplyer. i have disabled the eist setting in the bios so why is cpuz telling me fibs ??

C1E & EIST.
Intel speedstep reduces the cpu's multiplier when idle, when work is required it raises the multiplier to default.

Of course, unless it's causing instability when you've overclocked, you should leave it on, otherwise you're wasting electricity for no gain at all.

Who cares its 1st thing I kill totally on setting up a Mobo before Windows if even near it.

I'm @ 4GHZ (2000 QP FSB) 1.060v (was 1.054v on 680I) and passive. ;)

Well said! :)

INTEL come out with this useful Enhanced Speedstep feature and then people go and switch it off for no reason at all, I mean who needs to surf the web at 4GHz  :D

Hmm, you want me to reboot in between surfing the WEB and doing other crap ?

I don't care, if the 4GHZ needs well under Default Voltage (1.2v for 3.33GHZ) and runs cool enough I can slow CPU fan or stop it even. ;)

You need go hug a tree or such (ohh and I hope you ride a bike not drive a car since your so green). :p

You lost me there. Being able to downclock the CPU without rebooting is basically the point of SpeedStep?

Listen carefully (to anyone who seems to think I should) I DO NOT USE Speedstep, End Of. ;)

It has gave me issues with OC'ing in past and I have no need for it period as 24/7 clock is on all lowest voltages and runs cool even passively.

Sounds like that works well for you - but it doesn't mean that SS isn't useful for other people!

Correct, but there is countless threads here telling peeps to turn it of, this inc OC'ing thread and simply ones where peeps are myth there CPU keeps changing speeds. :)

Wayne is in another thread talking the same rubbish and its a bit boring TBH, as I said lets hope he rides a bike and does not drive a car if he want to be a tree hugger and not a hypocrite. ;)
